Through a series of oil paintings, I am exploring the concept of woman as vessel. I have chosen to use eggs as a symbol for their obvious connotation as a fertile vessel and for their remarkably beautiful, simple shape. Often nests are included, acting as vessels in their own right, providing safe havens. I paint directly from still life set ups in my studio from a collection of eggs, found bird nests and any materials that may suggest the form of a nest.
