Nature has always been a vital part of my life. My love of organic form has developed from the experiences of growing up in rural suburbia, scout camping, working on a farm and gardening.

I am moved by the configuration of the land, the design set up by a treeline against distant hills, or by the quality of light and shadow which creates a particular mood. I look for a way to lead the viewer into the landscape, a pathway they can follow, as a metaphor for our life’s journey. Though capturing a sense of place is important to me,it is even more vital that the paintings reflect my spiritual connection with that place.

Wherever possible, I create plein air studies, immersing myself in a variety of sensory stimulus. This allows my oil paintings to speak with integrity.
